Few things make us happier than spending our weekends doing exactly what we want to do. Whether you’re looking for a more laid-back vibe or are ready to stay out all night, New York City has it all! Not sure what to do this weekend? We have you covered.
EAT IT UP
The newly opened The Woodstock near the High Line is bringing major '60s vibes to your LGBTQ celebration! On Sunday, $2 from every Pride of ’69 cocktail (pictured above) purchased will be donated to The Ali Forney Center, an NYC-based nonprofit that supports LGBTQ youth. Finish off the day with an All You Need Is Love dessert pizza, and you have yourself a Sunday Funday!
TASTE EVERY TYPE OF FOOD AT SMORGASBURG (6/23 and 6/24)
Get excited to eat the weekend away at Smorgasburg! Taking place in Williamsburg on Saturdays and Prospect Park on Sundays, you’ll never get bored of the food vendors. From elaborate entrees to delectable desserts, no one leaves with an empty stomach.
DRINK IT UP
Remember how your parents would read you bedtime stories as a kid? Well, this is just like that — except the stories are read by drag queens and you can drink cocktails. Marti Cummings and Markus Kelle will be making your Pride dreams come true at the Hudson Bar in the Hudson Hotel. This Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m., get ready to hear Goldilocks and The Three Little Pigs like you never have before. Cummings will be hosting on Friday and Kelle on Saturday — with a drag number and standup to follow. Also, $1 from every cocktail sold will be donated to The Ali Forney Center.
The 8th Annual Daydream Pride Party is coming to PHD Rooftop Lounge at Dream Downtown! This Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m., expect a fun party with a killer view. It'll be hosted by Brandon Voss and Michael Cohen, with a performance by Candis Cayne at 3 p.m. There will also be music by DJs Ryan Kenny and Valissa Yoe, and living art by Darrell Thorne. Tickets are free, so RSVP here.
GET TIPSY OFF OF A SORBET SUNDAE (6/1 to 6/30)
Winc’s Summer Water rosé has collaborated with Tipsy Scoop, the ice cream shop that specializes in adding alcohol to ice cream and sorbet. For the month of June, you can get their special sundae, which consists of two scoops of Summer Water rosé-infused sorbet that's garnished with sour watermelon gummies. It’s served in a drink-sized, flamingo-shaped pool float that you can keep. Cheers!
SEE IT UP
Shakespeare in the Park is back for another season! From May 29 through June 24, you can get free tickets to Othello. Then, from July 17 to August 19, you can go see a musical adaptation of Twelfth Night. Performances are held at Delacorte Theater in Central Park at 8 p.m.
Natalia Stuyk’s cosmic art installation Paraiso has officially opened at Galeria Melissa. 3D stars take over the space to create a pretty tantalizing experience, and you can visit it any day for the next two months. It has a similar vibe to Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Rooms exhibit, and you know how popular that one is.
EMBRACE ALL THE FLORAL (until 6/30)
NYLO New York City is transforming its lobby into a flower-filled wonderland known as Arthouse Flower Market. In addition to seeing the hotel covered in beautiful blooms, there's a floral-themed cocktail menu, along with floral beers and mocktails, available every day at the LOCL Bar — and the cocktails are poured from watering cans! If you head over there on a Saturday, you can expect live music and complimentary tastings of brand-new vintages of rosé and seasonal beers from local breweries. Happy spring!
DO IT UP
SHOWER OUTSIDE AT ARLO SOHO (until 9/30)
Arlo Soho is giving you a really good reason to book a staycation. The hotel has launched “Shower Power Hour,” where guests staying in the Terrace Rooms will not only have access to outdoor showers, but they'll also receive Arlo’s Blind Barber bath products. And don’t forget to use the sunglasses and beer holder that come with it!
START YOUR SUNDAY WITH COMPLIMENTARY YOGA (6/24, and every Sunday in June)
Yoga is the ultimate way to relax and reenergize for the week ahead! Every Sunday this month, lululemon Williamsburg will be hosting complimentary yoga at 9:30 a.m. Take a class with Brooklyn-based instructor Ashley Kalinske, and don’t forget to bring your own mat!
June is LGBT Pride Month, and there’s no time to waste! There are plenty of events in NYC throughout the month, so try to do as much as you can. From musical lineups to the brand-new launch of the Human Rights Conference, find everything you need to know right here.
